First and foremost: RIP Michael Jackson. He was a true artist, and when I heard about the news on the radio this morning, it made me quite sad

I can smell it in the air, I can taste it in my apple juice… yes, at long last I’m on vacation! Finally, I will be able to watch True Blood season 2 without worrying about finishing my homework… and I will be able to spend more time working on my site and fanlistings! I’m considering adding my artwork to this site  Which makes me think that I have to work on my portfolio for uni and I’m not sure how to do it… :scared:

So, being on holiday also means that I’m done with my finals! I had three to pass: both a written and an oral test for literature, and science. Today I passed the oral test, and I was surprised since I was expecting it to be more difficult. Though I forgot an important part (which was reading the text I had to analyse—stupid me!), the teacher didn’t make a remark on that and told me I did a good job overall. She was a little nutty and seemed to enjoy interfering, which got me thinking, “let me talk! I only have 10 minutes to present my work!” But all in all I’m not too disappointed.

Yesterday, in order to celebrate the end of my finals, which I believe I’ve more or less managed, I ordered a pair of sweet little shoes on sale online. I don’t usually do that kind of thing, but this brand I particularly like, and I can’t find it where I live. Here’s what it looks like:

Speaking about fashion… lately I’ve been watching cycle 12 of America’s Next Top Model. It’s not generally a show I watch, since I’m more into Project Runway, so it was a nice change

For people we meet once and remember forever

Yesterday I did my Journee d’Appel a la Preparation de la Defense (JAPD), which is French for military service. No, I didn’t crawl in the dirt (which was actually what I’d been half-expecting). I basically sat amongst a group of about 30 kids, and we listened to people talk about the army, what being a French citizen means, etc. We also learned steps for life saving by training on dummies, which was interesting even though the teacher was a complete nut

(Now, here’s what I’m trying to get at by talking about yesterday’s events:) Have you ever met a person you would never see again, formed some kind of contact with them, and remembered them forever after that? It could be a person you have befriended for a day, or even a stranger you have come across in a public place, and who gives you a little heartlifting smile that’ll stay in your memory for a long time. Well, that happened to me yesterday, when I met a small group of nice people at the JAPD. They were complete strangers about my age, and we just stayed together even though we didn’t have a particular reason to do so. We talked about anything, which basically was a way to keep the conversation going. One of the them in particular, was very open and asked personal questions in a carefree (and definitely not offending) way, which made me feel comfortable with her presence and more willing to talk. Such people are wonderful to meet, and help create nice and fun memories for days that are supposed to be boring… I didn’t get their numbers, though there was a guy who goes to my high school, so chances are I’ll see him again. I suppose that sometimes, it’s better to keep such people as fragments of our memories which, as we think back on them, make us feel good about ourselves.

Now, off to revise! (School’s out, but it’s time for finals, which I hate… so much…) :eaten:

Exactly two more weeks left!

In two weeks’ time is the end of school, and I’m not happy about that

Before you start to think I’m crazy, here’s some food for thought: my timetable is the best any eleventh grader can ask for, with no school on Saturdays; this means that next year, I’ll have school on Saturdays again; I finally feel that I’m part of a good group of friends in a class that’s generally rather fun AND serious (last year’s class was a disaster, it sucked, it was filled with the worst kinds of lazy twits and hypocrites); twelfth graders I have befriended over the past couple years will no longer be around (who knows when I’ll see them again); toddler-sized tenth grade fashion victims in heels (I swear they’re getting smaller every year) will invade the school, which is worse than you think; getting closer to the end of the school year also means getting closer to exam week, I’m sure everyone feels my pain on this point; … and then there is another reason why I don’t want this year to end… [insert secret here]
The only things I actually am looking forward to would be: saying goodbye to my geography/history teacher (who really is a terrible teacher), having two months to spend on drawing, drawing and drawing, and being one step closer to university…

Synthetic bottled blood, anyone?

I’ve sat through two big important tests! Now I can relax a bit and update my site, until the big end of year exams come up again (boo hoo)… But for now, all I have to say is phew, thank goodness that’s over and done with!

So, my mom has recently bought all the Sookie Stackhouse novels by Charlaine Harris. I’m digging into the fourth of the series, and so far I have to say those books are such fun page turners. I’m not generally someone who enjoys reading books with some mature content, but hey, there’s not a lot of that anyway, and the storyline is imaginative and sometimes hilarious. If you’re unfamiliar with the series (in which case I recommend it to you), you may on the other hand have heard of HBO’s series True Blood. Season two’s coming up, and I’m sooo excited!
If you were wondering, the title of this post refers to TrueBlood, which is bottled blood that the vampires in the series drink

An irrelevant little footnote: I seem to have fallen completely in love with Howie Day’s Collide (all over again, because I’ve heard this song before and you must have, too, since it’s quite famous). It’s amazing, give it a listen

I celebrated my seventeenth birthday exactly a week ago! And now, well, I feel old
But hey, this means I’m just that much closer to uni!

Today I watched the Hannah Montana movie online. Before anyone attempts to make any nasty comments: no, I do not love Hannah Montana or Miley Cyrus, nor do I have any reason to hate her (being 17 instead of 12 doesn’t change anything). I watch her shows because I consider them light entertainment, but I’m not a hardcore fan  Hey, I appreciated the High School Musical series and I’m not ashamed to admit it  And my verdict on the movie is that it wasn’t a waste of time. It was actually quite enjoyable and better than the series. I wouldn’t recommend it as the best movie of the year, nor would I pay to watch it at the cinema… but I have to say that a couple of songs (except from those I’d already heard from the Hannah Montana series itself) have a nice sound to them.

I’m out to walk my dog!
